Idle No More (Click here for Past Performances)

"Idle No More", a 5 year old, 16.2 hh chestnut gelding by Mr. Greeley (Idle Rich-Sky Classic) has been renamed "Big Red" by his new caregivers. It seems we recall another chestnut that had that name and just happened to be a Triple Crown Winner. Hmmmm. Just so happens Idle is also related to the great Secretariat although his new caregivers did not know this at the time they gave him his new barn name.

Hall of Fame retired jockey Gary Stevens had been exercising this horse and asked for help in placing Idle off track. Neil French, Idle's last trainer, told us he was good looking but would look even better with tack on. Both he and Gary believe that with a few months off Idle could be an excellent jumper or some sort of event horse. Neil also said Idle has absolutely no joint issues or other health issues. Both said Idle also has a very fluid gait. Nicole (who previously already adopted Stone Cold Angel) and her crew went with trailer in tow to Santa Anita and promptly took Idle back with them. Thus, Idle will be completely retrained to make him into a stellar show horse.

Idle comes from the prestigious Stonerside Stable in Kentucky that was recently sold to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, ruler of United Arab Emigrates and one of the world's premier horse owners. Idle has blue blood flowing throughout his veins to wit, Mr. Greeley, Gone West, Sky Classic (a very durable horse), Mr. Prospector, Secretariat and Native Diver. Idle just exudes class on both his sire and dam's sides.

"The moment Idle goes for a walk in the arena, he rolls. He will roll 6 or 7 times per walk. He is so relaxed and happy, you don't really want to discourage it. Consequently, he gets dirty very quickly. There are a few pictures after we groomed him again. He has beautiful conformation and a kind eye."

April/May 2009 - Update

Idle has been moved to Kimberlee Farms in Somis, CA to be trained in eventing. Neigh Savers will be using Kimberlee Farms as a base for higher end training in dressage and jumping. The top two photos on the right side of the page show Idle now back at work at Kimberlee Farms with Neigh Savers Southern California Director Nicole Rawnsley. You can see how his coat has returned to a lovely glossy red color.

November 2009 - Update

Idle has started his training as shown on this Youtube video. He is a real character and loves to work and also play around with Nicole. Everyone who comes to Kimberlee Farms comments on how good Idle looks and wonders who he is. Sometime in the near future his name will be known as he well begin competing soon.

Update - March 2010

Idle is such a special horse that he will not be available for adoption and will stay in Somis at Kimberlee Farms under the care, love and supervision of Nicole Rawnsley. He shows great talent for the show ring and in particular jumping.
