Themis Valentine

This four year old daughter of Lit de Justice was a gutsy racer having had 11 starts with 1 win, 3 places and 2 shows and earned 43K at the track.

Unfortunately Themis had to have a screw put in her knee due to a fracture.  The vet cleared her for future racing but two of the principal owners bought out her interest and then retired her with dignity because they had admired her courage in her races and did not want to see her back at the track with a prior and pre-existing condition. 

We post her on our board because she is the half sister to our beloved late Caught Heart as they share the same mother in Caught in Thought.  Future plans are still being considered for this granddaughter of Pirate's Bounty but she may be bred eventually.  However, her breeding plans are being very carefully considered to match her with a stallion who will augment her good qualities and breed strength and endurance.  If a good match is not found or she is not a good broodmare prospect she will eventually be retrained for a second career.  It appears though with the shaky state of the economy that Themis will have a good long rest before anything at all is expected of her.
