Thank you Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA), Blue Horse Charities (Fastig-Tipton), CARMA, After the Finish Line and the ASPCA for acknowledging our efforts and granting us 2012 funds to continue our work

PLEASE NOTE -- WE DO NOT ACCEPT PRIVATE PARTY HORSE SURRENDERS.
WE WORK DIRECTLY WITH RACE TRACKS. IN ADDITION WE ASSIST WITH FEED LOT RESCUES AND PARTICIPATE IN AUCTIONS, BIDDING ONLY AGAINST KNOWN KILL BUYERS THROUGH VARIOUS AGENTS.

OUR RESOURCES ARE LIMITED AND WE ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY STATE OR FEDERAL FUNDS. WE RELY ON PRIVATE DONATIONS, GRANTS AND FUND-RAISING TO SUPPORT THE 40 HORSES CURRENTLY IN OUR PROGRAM. LAST YEAR WE HELPED 85 HORSES, 22 OF THOSE CAME FROM HIGH RISK SITUATIONS, THE REMAINDER DIRECTLY FROM THE TRACKS OR BREEDER DOWNSIZING.

WE DO NOT OWN LAND BUT LEASE INDIVIDUAL STALL SPACE IN ESTABLISHED FACILITIES TO REHAB-RETRAIN AND REHOME OUR HORSES.

THUS WE CANNOT RETIRE A HORSE IN A PERMANENT SANCTUARY SITUATION.

IT IS OUR DREAM TO ONE DAY OWN OUR OWN LAND AND FACILITY......

Sponsors Needed:

Please consider the following horses in need of sponsors or helping with general expenses:

Approximate Monthly Horse Costs

Feed: $250
Calculated at three-four flakes of hay a day and a moderately priced supplement.

Bedding: $80
A bag of shavings is approximately $10 and a horse will go through about two bags a week.

Hoof Care: $50 = $110
A basic trimming is $50 a horse, but a trimming and shoes is around $100. Cost only applies every other month.

Vaccinations: $ 125
A dewormer, four-way vaccine, and West Nile booster is given every six months for basic horse health.

Veterinary Care:
This is unknown and usually is what breaks the back of a rescue.

In total it costs us at minimum $400 a month for us to keep a horse in foster care and even $25 a month is helpful. Even committing to something like a bag of shavings ($10) or a bale of hay ($20) helps tremendously and allows us to sponsor an additional horse or two. Click on our PayPal button located on the left pane to help the horses now.

Please e-mail Karin or contact by phone at (925) 980-7588 if you can help.

Our Mission

Neigh Savers Foundation was incorporated in July 2007 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and has been certified by the IRS as a tax exempt charity. Any donations made to Neigh Savers are fully tax deductible. Neigh Savers provides California’s Thoroughbreds with a chance at a second career or a well deserved retirement when their racing careers have come to an end due to soundness issues, age or lack of success at the track.

Neigh Savers assists in making a “Thoroughbred Connection” that places a deserving Thoroughbred into another life. Through our network we seek to find Thoroughbreds new careers in dressage, eventing, pleasure riding, trail riding or as therapy horses. If not suitable for any new career we try to find loving homes where a horse can simply retire as a pasture ornament or serve as companion equines.

If you are willing to help, please refer to the Donate tab on our website for the many options we have to offer in that regard or donate directly via the PayPal Donate button located on every page of the website.
